San Marino Food and Drink

Of course Italian food is very widely available in San Marino, with popular first courses including tortellini, passatelli (broth), tagliatelle, lasagne, ravioli, cannelloni and arbalester's passaduri (a local speciality).

For your main course, you will find succulent dishes including roast rabbit with fennel, devilled chicken, quails, veal escalopes, Bolognese veal cutlets, assorted 'mouthfuls' (three types of tender meat) and Roman veal escalopes.

For the dessert lovers out there, you may be served San Marino tart and cacciatello (similar to crême caramel).

There are lots of restaurants in San Marino, both in the main capital and also in the villages that make up the rest of the state. Table service is customary, although a few restaurants are self-service.

If you don't mind the odd glass of wine, you won't go thirsty in San Marino. Good quality local wines include San Marino muscat, biancale, albana and sangiovese. The local liqueur is Mistra.
