San Marino Money
The first Euro notes and coins were introduced into San Marino in January 2002. All currency, credit card, travellers cheques, exchange rates and currency restrictions are applicable to Italy as a whole, and there are no special differences in San Marino.
Since the early 1970s, San Marino has increased its production of indigenous gold and silver coins.
There are many banks offering differing exchange rates depending on the denominations of currency being bought or sold. Check with the banks for details and current rates at the time of travel, and shop around to get the best deal.
General exchange rate information is as follows: euros per US dollar - 0.8054 (2004), 0.886 (2003), 1.0626 (2002), 1.1175 (2001), 1.0854 (2000)
